April 3 - 2023 9:00 a.n.- 12:00 p.m. - UNK/UNMC Backstage Pass (alternated spring and fall each year)
October, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., High School Career Exploration Day ~ Sponsored by the Nebraska National Guard and Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce Business and Education Committee. The event will be held at the National Guard Armory, 5710 Airport Road, Kearney, NE 68847. Registration is due by October 12, 2022. The registration form is available here and on our website. October ?? 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Construction Career Day-Metro Community College: An opportunity for high school students to explore career options at the Construction Education Center (Fort Omaha Campus) in the Construction programs including Diesel and Utility Line. Students will have an opportunity to meet industry professionals as they participate in hands-on activities within the areas of Construction, Diesel and Utility Line. November ??, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Children’s Hospital & Medical Center is excited to be launching their new career exploration program this fall, called Career Quest! This FREE one-day learning experience, to be held on Saturday, November 5th from 9am-3pm, targets high school juniors and seniors who may be interested in a career in healthcare and will involve a variety of clinical departments at Children’s. The day will be filled with hands-on learning activities and deeper discussions on what these different roles truly look like on a day to day basis. Children’s will also have some of our college partners on hand to walk students through the educational pathways for each of the career focuses.

Omaha STEM Ecosystem and AIM Institute announced the launch of the FREE online STEM Community Platform, presented by Cox. The mission of the STEM Community Platform is to connect youth, parents, educators and professionals to an online hub of high-quality STEM programs, resources and events. The website offers easy functionality for the user to find kids camps, career listings in STEM career fields and informational resources for elementary aged children to adults.
Opera Omaha-Student Dress Rehearsals: Going beyond the ordinary field trip experience, Student Dress Rehearsals at Opera Omaha offer students a deep, meaningful encounter with many of the elements that bring the productions to the stage and a chance to see how a show is fine-tuned while watching many of the professional artists, technicians and managers in action. Dress rehearsals are a great opportunity for students to experience an opera performance and see artisans at work before the show opens to the public. We are privileged to be able to offer our students and chaperones this amazing opportunity for FREE. More information is available here!

Career Exploration/Development
All 7-12 students can access NE Career connections via the St. Paul Clever login. Learn about yourself, build an education plan, and explore and prepare for the various options after high school. You may research occupations and begin to develop a portfolio to display to potential employers or educational institutions.
Job Corps is the largest nationwide residential career training program in the country and has been operating for more than 50 years. The program helps eligible young people ages 16 through 24 complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers, and assists them with obtaining employment. Job Corps has trained and educated over two million individuals since 1964.
At Job Corps, students have access to room and board while they learn skills in specific training areas for up to three years. In addition to helping students complete their education, obtain career technical skills and gain employment, Job Corps also provides transitional support services, such as help finding employment, housing, child care, and transportation. Job Corps graduates either enter the workforce or an apprenticeship, go on to higher education, or join the military.
